Luke SkywalkerLuke Skywalker’s original lightsaber prop from the first Star Wars movie garnered over $200,000 as a closing bid at a recent memorabilia auction. From Gear Live…

The auction, with both live and online bidders, took place in Beverly Hills, California, and featured 550 different movie props, some from the personal collection of Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz. Despite being made up of only a metal tube and some rubber, the lightsaber sold for far more than the $60,000 to $80,000 that was expected.

Other auction highlights included…

  • Luke’s X-Wing flight suit from Star Wars – $70,080.00
  • Yoda’s walking cane from Star Wars – $50,150.00
  • “Colonel Klink” military uniform from Hogan’s Heroes – $35,400.00

Incidently, Darth Vader’s lightsaber was also sold, but only brought in $118,000. Ha! The Light Side rules!
