General Electric Monogram Wine VaultFrom General Electric, the company that provides us with everything from light bulbs to jet engines, may we present the latest must-have gadget for the family rec-room. GE’s Monogram Walk-In Wine Vault, a breakthrough in wine storage that’s been designed to cater to the desires of the sophisticated collector. From the GE web site…

The Monogram® Walk-In Wine Vault combines advanced cooling technology, an electronic inventory-management system, insulation, racking, and lighting – all in one spacious, self-contained unit that can be installed in as little as a day.

This puppy has a capacity of more than a thousand bottles and it’s electronic inventory system features an easy-to-use 15-inch touch-screen console, label printer and scanner in one self-contained unit. With the barcode scanner, bottles can be added or removed from the inventory in just mere seconds.

Optional add-ons include a customizable tasting area with arched backdrop, display racks, European cork tabletop and storage drawer or you can customize the wood paneled wall space with a stain finish, ceramic tiles or decorative art.

GE claims a limited availability for the fall of 2005 for this little trinket, but no word on pricing, though something tells this is one of those ‘If you have to ask, you can’t afford it‘ situations.
