Crosley’s Explorer 1 Retro XM Receiver

Sorry, being a radio geek, I can’t help myself when I see stuff like this. Crosley Radio, a company that’s been in the biz since 1920 has got this neat little unit slated to come out in 2006.
The Explorer 1, named after NASA’s first successful launch back in 1958, is an interesting tabletop sound system. You’ve got an AM/FM/XM receiver pumping out the tunes via three speakers and a ported bass to provide what they call an ‘Out of the Box‘ sound. Then, they’ve got what they’re calling ‘Portable Audio Ready‘ which will provide connection of audio sources such as portable MP3 and CD players. All that packaged up into ‘a handcrafted wooden cabinet with beveled aluminum accents‘.
Not too bad looking, though the price tag is a little heavy at $399.95 USD. Other features include dual alarms, headphone and auxiliary output jacks, EQ controls and battery backup.
You can find more details at the Crosley site here.
