Gamepark’s GP2X (which I previously profiled here as the GPX2) has now officially gone on sale in the UK and North American availability is looking like late October or early November.
If you’re not familiar, the GP2X is a powerful little handheld that features dual 200mhz CPU’s with 64meg of RAM. It runs on Linux OS which means a whole whack of games and emulators are at your disposal (Quake, Doom, SNES, Megadrive, MAME, Media players and more). They also include their own SDK so coders can make their own games and apps.
The UK’s GP2X.co.uk has it on sale for £124.99 (incl VAT) which gives you the console, a USB cable, CD with games and goodies, 2 AA batteries, and the SDK. It’s available to ship now.
gp32z.com in the US is taking pre-orders for the unit at $189.99 USD plus shipping and are claiming availability for late Oct or early Nov. gp32z.com has no details on whether they’re offering the same type of ‘value pack’ that GP2X.co.uk is, though they do state that all pre-orders will recieve a ‘free item’ with their purchase.
