Lets face it, the wired world does not run on regular cords and plugs any more. It seem that at the end of every electrical cord, there’s an intimidating looking, odd shaped block that inevitibly covers up the second plug in your wall outlets.
Well Gadgetizers, 360 Electrical has solved the problem with their super cool 360° rotating outlets. I’d recommend having a qualified electrician install these throughout your home as there’s some wiring involved, but all in all the concept is top notch.
Now, if they only applied this 360° rotating power outlet concept to your standard 4 or 6 outlet power bar.

1Seems overkill to replace the wall outlet with a non-standard pattern that may be hard to get cover plates to match the other outlet plates in the room, and you may have to hire an electrician to install it.
Computer IEC power cords and regular extension cords are available that hug the wall and depart at a 45-degree angle so as to not block the other outlet. I have also seen extension cords that have a swivel to prevent blocking the other outlet, which works nice with 4 & 6 outlet strips.

2I see those as being more annoying that the standard ones… For example, you have to compare both the socket and plug to make sure they are around the right way :/

7This is nothing new - here is a design I did years ago for a similar product.

8This doesn’t solve the problem of tranformer blocks very well… Making the outlets need to be further apart would make a bigger difference! Swivelling outlets might help solve other issues though.

9Whoops… poor cut/paste editing on my part.
Meant to say “Making the outlets further apart would make a bigger difference!”
