Knockoffs are nothing new in the lucerative gadget industry, but this time Governments and manufacturers are taking a more proactive approach to counterfeiters.
The Samsung cellular phone to the right is a fake, a knockoff of a phone the company has not yet released to the public.
Here’s a clip from a Chosun.com article addressing the fake Samsung cellular phone issue:
The Electronic Industries Association of Korea (EIAK) said Sunday it plans to set up a committee that will tackle the menace to minimize further damage for domestic companies. EIAK will investigate the losses to domestic makers of mobile phones, MP3 players and other electronics products and set up damage report center.
So how do you tell the knockoff from the real thing?
The Samsung phone to be released in China should have the word “Anycall” at the bottom of the display screen. The fake (pictured here) has the word “Amycall.”
