Welcome To Gadgetizer 2.0
January 4, 2006 | In: Breaking News, General
For months now I’ve been busting my brain trying to come up with a new design for this site, and it’s finally happened. I’ve spent approx. 35 hours on it over the past 3 days.
The design and layout was inspired by the Web 2.0 / rounded corner craze that seems to be going around lately, and the green seems easy on the eyes too. I tried to stay away from the “visual assault” colors and design, although some would disagree.
There’s still some minor work to be done on the footer and a few bugs to be worked out, but all in all this is what Gadgetizer will look like for the next 12 months or so.
Next on the list is to upgrade to the latest version of Wordpress, and ask my friend and design/wordpress expert Teli Adlam to optimize my bloated xhtml and CSS.
If you find anything that doesn’t look right with the new layout, or you’re using a browser other than Opera, IE6 or Firefox, please explain what you found in detail by clicking on the Comments link below.
BTW, normal posting (whatever that is) will resume tomorrow, after some much needed sleep.

Paul,
I like the shade of green…the rounded corners are sweet…the ads fit nicely…overall a 9.75 !
The new button that people are using for RSS is too much too soon as my research says only 12% of users are aware of RSS and only 4% knowingly use it. So that tells me they need those RSS letters to tell them what it is.
Also, MY MSN has about a 41% share of the market..4 times what My Google has, so you might want a button for them. If you want it to stay symmetrical, you might rid yourself of Newsgator.
Again, overall, I’d say Helluva job …Rumble young man, rumble !

I like the design myself, used it on my site but in a bordered fashion, grey on white background. Yahoo should be recognized for making the rounded look very popular among webmasters over the past 6 months.
