In an effort to protect soldiers faces from flying derbis in war zones, a company called MTek has been testing a product called Predator Facial Armor. From the MTek site:
Because of the increased risk of airborne fragmentation threats, resulting from improvised explosive devices, also known as IED’s, MTek has produced the Predator Facial Armor System Technology, or FAST for short. The FAST G1, was designed for use by vehicle mounted personnel, more specifically crew served weapons operators.
And if you’d like to see this super-cool looking gadget in action, here’s a link to some videos.
