From the Microsoft Press Release:
BARCELONA, Spain — Feb. 13, 2006 — Today, at the 3GSM World Congress 2006, Microsoft Corp. announced the acquisition of MotionBridge, a leading provider of search technology designed specifically for mobile operators and the mobile Internet. MotionBridge, based in Paris, is a worldwide leader in mobile search technology that is currently available to customers through contacts with major mobile communications companies in Europe and North America.
At Northern Voice I asked our “geeking out” audience who was reading blogs regularly on cell phones and several hands went up. That’s a change over last year and one I expect to see accelerate this year. So, buying a search engine aimed at mobile Internet users makes a lot of sense. This takes us from being out of the running on cell phone search to a leading position.
Developments in the mobile search field will be very interesting to follow indeed! BTW, gadgetizer seems to look ok on mobile platforms, in case anyone’s interested.
