If you ever wanted to build a nice looking arcade, this is your chance.
Donald Brown, from Domestic Arcades has a step by step tutorial to create the Penny Arcade which won’t be too difficult to do:
It is a simple build. The case took only a few hours to make. The electronics do require some soldering, but the circuit boards were designed for soldering wires and it went very well.
Need to buy: Namco TV Game controller, Power Adapter, Joystick, two Arcade Buttons, SPST Power Switch, miscellaneous wires and others, 14″ TV and a bumper sticker stock to add that “traditional arcadish look”.
The 5 games available for this arcade are: Pacman, Galaxian, RallyX, DigDug, and Bosconian.
Budget for the project: around $300, but you can save some money in certain items.
Read the instructions and if you like it, there is a version 2 of the Penny Arcade, check it out.
