Toshiba HD-XA1 HD DVD

With all the HD DVD hype going on, I’m talking about new system (and movies) getting delayed, the good news came today for Japan. They will be the first ones to have a HD DVD player available at the stores, it will be the Toshiba HD-XA1.

Strangely enough (or not) is the inclusion of 2 HD DVD movies: Resident Evil, and Moonlight Jellyfish.

Toshiba has brought the first HD DVD player to market to promote the early and fast penetration of the next generation DVD format, and to stimulate the penetration of content software based on HD DVD.

Take note:

  • Read the specifications of the Toshiba HD-XA1 HD DVD in the press release
  • Price in Japan is 110.000 Yen, close to $932
  • Price in the USA will be $800
  • The other Toshiba HD DVD player – HD-A1 – will hit the USA shelves in April
