Shopping for visual handicapped people is easier with Digi>tal
April 6, 2006 | In: General, Personal Gadgets

A creative mind from Sweden – Carl Hagerling – brings us some cool concepts regarding product design and functional architecture.
The Digi>tal (let’s call it that*) is a device with the purpose to make life easier for the visual handicapped people during the shopping trips.
It includes a scanner to be put on the wrist and a headset with an antenna and earphone. The working system is as good as it can get: when holding the grocery item the person just needs to push the button on the scanner and the name of the grocery – according to the information on the price tag – will be announced on the earphone.
Take note:
- It is just a concept
- Carl Hagerling has more cool ideas that can be seen at his personal site – www.hagerling.se – I suppose he is Swedish
- Some of those concepts were featured at exhibitions and received awards
- Digi>tal isn’t a one-man-only project, Pär Sanglof is the partner in action
- * Not sure if “Digi>tal” this is the correct name
