Windows Vista

Microsoft recently published the minimum requirements for Windows Vista, and there are some notable things.

You can have what MS calls a “Capable PC” - runs Vista but not to its full potential. In this case, the computer will need to have at least a 800MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and a graphic card that supports DirectX9.

Or you can opt for “Premium Ready PCs” - which will make the Vista experience much better. The specs go higher than ever for this one:

  • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • 128 MB of graphics memory
  • 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space
  • DVD-ROM Drive
  • Audio output capability
  • Internet access capability
