New Slashdot design

Slashdot asked their users for a CSS re-design, and they got it yesterday. The winner is Alex Bendiken and here is a preview of the new Slashdot design.
The most notable changes are the gray gradients, more rounded corners and more white/free space*
There were other good entries, but in my opinion, the best design was the one that got the second place, by Peter Lada – Check Peter’s Slashdot re-design.
Which one do you prefer?
edit* – I forgot to mention the most important change = the font.

Yuck, the new design is awful – the font is way too thin and actually puts me off visiting the site – I really do go there less now as I find it hard to read.
