Microsoft Office 2007 Beta 2 costs money
July 31, 2006 | In: General

Microsoft has decided to make more money charge for each download of Office 2007 Beta 2.
While some companies will pay a user to test their software while it’s still on beta version, Microsoft does the opposite and makes you pay to use the not completed version. I’m sure the slogan Think Different has hit them.
So, what is the strategy behind this move? What is the reason to pay $1.50 to have a copy of the latest Microsoft product? According to someone inside the company:
Since the end of May, Beta 2 has been downloaded more than 3 million times…That’s 500 percent more than what was expected. The fee helps offset the cost of downloading from the servers.
At the moment I’m writing this post the Microsoft Office beta-version software is still for free, I’m downloading as we speak! 340MB and going… If you wish to do the same, go to the Microsoft site to download Office 2007 Beta 2
According to my secret inside sources, the $1,50 fee for each download will start on the 2nd of August, so hurry up!
Update: My download (I picked Microsoft Office 2007 Plus, but there are other programs) has finished and the file size is 440MB.
