What started as a project by 2 students at Stanford University in California to improve results provided by search engines, ended up to be one the biggest (if not the one) internet companies, and today Google turns 8 years old.
Besides the search engine, which products/services do you think had the most positive impact for the success of Google? Here are my picks:
- Gmail – being the first offering 1GB of storage capacity, for free
- the invitation system for gmail also hypped them up a bit
- Google Earth
- Google Maps
PS – Did I forget adsense/adwords? ;P

Happy B-day Google! I use your search engines everyday and appreciate your reliability. I think you are the best and like that your home page is not riddled with crap (pictures, news, pop-ups, horoscopes etc.) because if I want that stuff I will find it I do not need it shoved in my face. Thank you for not over stimulating me like most other search engines like “Yahoo”. You are my favorite by far. Thanks to all the workers that make it happen. I also love your pictures within the words Google and find them very creative. Another thing I love is the image search function…it is so easy and fast. Happy 8th Birthday!
