There used to be a time in which Google Talk (the instant messenger program) was only available for Gmail users (the free webmail service) but today that selection detail disappeared because Google announced that anyone can download and use Google Talk.
If you’d like to try the instant messenger create a Google account and you’re good to go, just a warning here - the nickname “dadadadada” is not available and it wasn’t me.
PS - There are still some drawbacks if you use Google Talk without a Gmail account, like like e-mail notification not working, (the little balloon that pops up whenever you receive an e-mail, similar to what MSN has if you use a hotmail account) and not being able to save conversations.
