The google boys are talking about their Trademark (again), they don’t want people to use the verb google when referring to search engines besides themselves.
For example, this is what they don’t want you to say/write:
- I googled him on Yahoo and he seems pretty interesting
On the other side, we have the good usage of the word google:
- I googled him on the well-known website Google.com and he seems pretty interesting
- I just love Google, they’re soooo cute and cuddly and adorable and awesome!
The story of google and their trademark got well-known after their lawyers started sending a couple of letters to people that didn’t use the word correctly, the Washington Post is a good example of a newspaper that got one of those letters, read more about that story.
