Paint.Net: free image and photo software

200610311725I used to run a small technology center at a university, and one of the things we always wanted was a small, lean application that would allow users to crop, erase, and remove red eyes from photos that didn’t cost much. We used PaintShop Pro, which started out a simple and lean application. Over time PSP started becoming very full featured, and more complex, and more expensive.

Users might appreciate Paint.Net, a freeware application that allows you to do all of the above. There’s no need to nuke a fly when a swatter will do just as well, and for most people Paint.Net will cover all their bases. It also has a look and feel very close to MS Paint, so the learning curve should be minimal.
