Seagate

In what seems to be like an expectable move on Seagate’s part - the popular company that produces hard-drives and other related devices - have announced that a new 3.5-inch hard-drive with 1TB of storage capacity will be available on the first semester of 2007. Now, compare that with my lame ass 60GB hard-drive and give me a reason not to get sad.

The technology used to have such a big storage in such a small sized device is perpendicular recording technology:

It is clear that fewer heads and discs, along with our proven perpendicular technology, can increase drive reliability, and also reduce operating temperatures, power consumption, noise, and weight.

These kind of big capacity drives can be good and bad at the same time, it is always nice to have plenty of space on a drive to fill it up with junk, but just imagine if the 1TB drive drives and you can’t recover any of the data…
