eBay Shill Bidding – User (Paraskevaides) Banned For Life

eBay

Do you remember the previous story about eBay and Shill Bidding? You can consider this a continuation with a happy ending.

Lets recapitulate – there used to be an eBay user by the name of Eftis Paraskevaides, a big Britain eBay player which had the great level of being a “Titanium PowerSeller”.

During an (undercover) interview to the Sunday Times, he bragged about making shill bids – so smart, yet so stupid – too bad he didn’t know he was being recorded.

Obviously eBay was on the spotlight with the British Newspaper and the World Wide Web waiting for more action, and so with the audio proofs on their hands they decided to investigate further and found some interesting details:

Computer records show that Eftis Paraskevaides took bids from his former wife’s eBay account on at least 400 items. The link between seller and bidder had been hidden from customers and eBay officials because the transactions were made in her maiden name.

Final result? Banned for life from eBay thanks to the investigation made by the newspaper.

Justice was done and Paraskevaides got served!
