China

The Asian folks from China aren’t satisfied with how the Internet is running their country, therefore they decided to add another ban and this time it is related with the never ending internet cafes:

China will not allow any more internet cafes to open this year, according to a government order obtained by the state news agency Xinhua.

In a country in which people die from playing an online game (World of Warcraft) for days, I guess this is a good security measure to break the internet addiction.

Interesting numbers:

  • there are 113 thousand internet cafes in China
  • increase of 30% of internet users from 2006 to 2007
  • the Chinese online population is close to 132 million
