Pretec has presented a new storage device entitled Pretec i-Disk, it is like an innovation on the market due to the use of USB and RFID together, but what makes it special is how small it is – only measuring 45.7×12.2×2.2mm and with claims of being the “smallest of its kind in the world”.
The storage capacities go from the small 128MB to the big 1GB, and to access the data you can either use a RFID reader (can be done remotely), or just plug it into a USB port on a computer.
One scenario in which Pretec is betting the usage of the i-Disk is in the hospitals, airports and alikes. Why hospitals?
Paper-less and easy access environment for hospital patient care can be achieved by using the Pretec i-Disk RFID as a tag (or bracelet, or necklace) functioning as an electronic portable medical health record and easy and yet secure personal identification.
