Lock Your Computer With A USB Key
April 3, 2007 | In: Desktop Computers, General, Security, USB

One of the strangest ways to lock a computer and don’t let anyone else have access to it, is by making use of the CR-UK2 Elecom USB Key.
How does it work?
Without the CR-UK2 inserted into the computer, the PC will not be able to operate.
- Good points: better than passwords, only you have the power to unlock it.
- Bad points: if you lose, or get robbed, or damage the USB key, say goodbye to the computer and information inside it.
- Strange points: What if a person just removes the hard-drive? What if it can be hacked easily?
The conclusion I came up with is the following: don’t put private, personal and important information in your computer, use a normal USB flash drive for that and place it inside a safe near your computer.
It costs $49 and is only available in black.
