There is a new program called “Text a Tip” that is suppose to fight the crime in the Boston area. It uses the “modern” technology of text messages (SMS) on cellphones and as strange as it might sound - it is an anonymous tip.
How does it work:
In the new system, people with information about crimes would type the word “tip” into their phones and send the message to police. The sender’s identification is blocked, Davis said. Police will then “text” a message back asking for details.
When taking in consideration the other ways to tip the police about crimes, I’d say this is probably the best one. People always have a cellphone with them so that won’t be a problem, however, if you don’t have credit to send a SMS it can be a dramatic situation.
