Seagate presents OneTouch4 hard-drives
September 7, 2007 | In: Storage Devices

Seagate has introduced 3 new hard-drives on the OneTouch4 family, the names vary from Plus to Mini, and prices go from $100 to $360. Obviously they all use the USB 2.0 interface to transfer data, and the Plus version has a useful function to keep your data secure:
An encryption feature that will lock up any files you drag to a specific password-protected folder.
Additionally, there is a one-touch back-up feature, meaning that you only need to push one button in order to back up all the data that is inside the drive. Another option is to do the back-up process at specific times set by you.
Prices and storage capacities for each model:
- OneTouch 4 Plus:
- $130 for 250 GB
- $200 for 500 GB
- $290 for 750 GB
- $360 for 1 TB
- OneTouch 4:
- $100 for 250 GB
- $170 for 500 GB
- $270 for 750 GB
- OneTouch 4 Mini:

The Maxtor OneTouch 4 is a dreadful product. It is flaky, unreliable, and the support from Maxtor is terrible/non existant. I have had the 750gb version of this box for 2 months now and it has caused nothing but problems. Be warned and stay away !!
