LaCie Silverscreen is a multimedia hard drive, which means that besides the obvious storage system, the LaCie product is able to play multimedia files (MP3, JPEG, DivX) directly on your TV just by plugging in the specific cable.
The Silverscreen can either hold 320GB or 500GB of data, which according to LaCie calculations is the same thing as saying that the biggest model can store 500DivX movies, or 160,000 MP3s, or 5,000 photos.
The LaCie Silverscreen is an excellent value for the vast majority of people with extensive libraries of digital entertainment content. This product provides easy playback of the most popular audio and video formats.
To transfer data there is a USB2.0 interface, easy as drag-and-drop. In case you are worried about the video and audio quality, don’t be. The LaCie Silverscreen supports surround sound – Dolby Digital 5.1 – and can also upscale video content to high-definition TV displays via its optional component cable.
