ioDrive Flash Drive

One of the latest storage devices we mentioned was the LaCie 2big Triple, which can hold up to 2GB of data, but the news for today are about a smaller system that has excellent writing/reading speeds – the ioDrive from Fusion-io.

Basically the ioDrive flash drive has the following speeds:

  • 800Mb/sec for reading
  • 600Mb/sec for writing

Obviously, for such great specs you get a high price – $19,000 for 640GB, or $2,400 for 8GB. Other versions include 160GB and 320GB which will be released next year.

What is the ioDrive?

The ioDrive™ is the industry’s first, NAND based enterprise storage solution that provides access rates comparable to DRAM with storage capacity on par with disks — being able to improve both memory capacity and storage performance by 100x.
