Roth Motor has released the so called next generation electric scooter named MotorBoard 2000 XR. The “safety-limited” speed is only 15mph (close to 24km/h) which is good enough for a walk or two around the park, or the city if you live in Amsterdam.
The lithium-ion battery is the main improvement, because the old version (2000X) used a normal NiMH battery. The eco-friendly scooter can hold a person that weighs up to 250 pounds (or 113Kg) and with one full charge the battery life can hold between 4 to 7 miles. But if you want to travel a bit more there is an extended range model, that hangs on up to 20 miles.
The batteries are low maintenance and can be fully charged in 90 minutes with the included Intelligent Quick Charger.
One interesting detail is the Kick-to-Go feature, which is suppose to improve the quality of the battery life. The MotorBoard 2000 XR Electric Scooter is priced at $800.

1Meh, I have one the 2000X models and the battery stopped working right after a few months (won’t hold much charge) on top of that the ‘up to’ speed has nothing to do with safety, I’m six foot and a bit over 200 pounds put a back back on me and these things barely can get up to half their projected top speed or less. Basically jogging speed. At $400 bucks it was barely a entertaining toy and fell far short of the tool I wanted to use to commute the mile and half to the train station and back daily. Can’t recommend their products or customer support. BBW

2It’s going for $800 now. What are they thinking to ask for such fancy price for an underperforming piece of plank on wheels. Cannot use to climb steep roads, cannot use in wet weather and the low profile tiny rubber wheels are bumpy and very dangerous too. Try riding over port holes and you better have padded ass and knees!
