Fire Safe and Waterproof USB Hard Drive

If you are afraid to lose your external hard-drive on a fire, Sentry Safe has come up with a useful product that can protect the storage device for half an hour with temperatures up to 1550F degrees. If for some odd reason, you also fear that water can damage the hard-drive, don’t worry because this special system can hold up to 24 hours underwater.

Sentry took care of the physical protection, while Maxtor provided the drive and backup software against fatal crash and trojan horse attack.

The hard-drive made by Sentry and Maxtor costs $260 for a 80GB model, and $320 in case you want a bigger drive with 160GB. Thanks to Maxtor, the included SafetyDrill software has a system restore feature that can instantly do wonders.

I would say it is not too odd that they made it watertight, considering 1000’s of gallons of water are used to extinguish a fire.
