Kingston DT BlackBox - USB DriveIn the past we’ve seen two DataTraveler USB drives from Kingston, in case you don’t remember they are the DT II Plus, and the DT 100.

In the future we’ll see a new Kingston drive that has security as the main concern. It is codenamed DataTraveler BlackBox, and is available in 3 storage capacities ranging from 2GB to 8GB, with a 4GB model in the middle. The price for the smallest model of 2GB is $165, while the biggest version costs $424, and the middle-one is priced at $242.

As for the security features, it uses the 256-bit hardware-based encryption mode, and if you fail to type the correct password 10 times, the BlackBox will lock the storage system and force a format to set a new password so you can (re)start using the drive - meaning that spies will have a hard time accessing your private data. To make it harder for other people to guess your password, it is mandatory to include 6 letters and other 3 characters, like numbers, slashes, etc.

DataTraveler BlackBox is rugged and waterproof (up to 4 feet), with a titanium-coated, stainless steel casing for added data protection.
