Garmin Nuvi 880 – GPS System at $1k
June 17, 2008 | In: GPS Systems
The Garmin Nuvi 880 GPS, a.k.a. top of the line and most expensive navigation system from Garmin, is already available at Amazon but only for pre-order. If you have $1,000 laying around, the Nuvi 880 can be yours!
What makes the upcoming GPS system different from the rest? A remote control that activates the speech recognition function? A traffic receiver that works with MSN Direct? Or the embedded Linux operative system? Actually, it is the sum of all these features and many more, like the “last position” function that enables the owner to use the GPS system on foot, and afterwards easily find the position of the parked car.
As for the normal features, the 880 boasts a normal 4.3-inch screen, bluetooth, FM transmitter, USB 2.0 interface, text-to-speech, and a slot for SD memory cards.
- Picture navigation: routing to a geocoded point in JPEG files
- Web drop: create favorites in a PC browser and send to nuvi via USB (.gps files)
- Replaceable battery, high capacity Lithium-ion (up to 5 hours use)
