CherryPal is a cloud-based computer that is trying things a bit differently. There are no subscription costs with this little machine (which has no moving parts and only draws two watts of power).

The device runs ads when you open a program (but they appear at no other time). It has a 400 MHz Freescale MPC5121e mobileGT processor and 256 MB RAM, and runs a Linux-based operating system.

The device will be available at the end of $249 at the end of July.

You can find a full press release here.
