Estonians Call In Their Votes

December 15, 2008 | In: Cellular Phones, News

estonia-cellphone-voting.jpgThe Estonian Parliament voted last Thursday on a bill that would allow Estonians to place their votes from their respective cellphones.

With a strong history of being tech-forward, Estonia easily passed the measure and citizens will now be able to phone in their next Parliamentary votes in 2011.

In order to vote by cellular phone, Estonians will be issued a special chip for their handsets that will keep track of mobile payments as well as verifying the caller’s identity.
