AT&T To Buy T-Mobile

Sigh, it’s the way of the American market, isn’t it?  Apparently AT&T isn’t happy being just one of the biggest US carries, they want to be the largest in the country.

Just announced over the weekend, AT&T has plans to purchase T-Mobile from Deutsche Telekom for a whopping $39 billion.  If the deal is approved, this will make the carrier the largest the US has ever seen.

So, what does that mean for AT&T?  Well for one, if the deal is approved, 86 million already existing AT&T customers will merge with those 34 million T-Mobile subscribers, and we can only hope the towers can support all that action.

It’s almost really too bad, Sprint is one of the most affordable carriers in the US right now, and swallowing it whole doesn’t seem like the fair thing to do, guess we’ll be revisiting this subject in a year or so as that’s how long the approval process might take.
