Austrian Man Volunteers To Be Amputated For Bionic Hand

An Australian man being dubbed Milo for the sake of anonymity has volunteered to have his hand amputated in order to be fit with a bionic limb.  Wow, that’s some faith in science, eh?

The gentleman in question is 26-years-old and lost the use of his right hand in an unfortunate motorcycle accident 10 years ago.  Once his arm heals after the amputation, the bionic hand will be fitted and controlled by the nerve signals in his arm.  Fascinating!

Milo reveals, “The operation will change my life. I live 10 years with this hand and it cannot be (made) better. The only way is to cut this down and I get a new arm.”

This will be the second elective amputation performed by Viennese surgeon Oskar Aszmann.  Here’s hoping for a successful bionic journey.  Now, if we could somehow just cash in on the six million dollar man, we’d be rolling in it…
