Sharp is breaking records as well as ground with the launching of the world’s very first Ultra High Definition LCD display. Wahoo!
In cahoots with NHK, Sharp has created a 85″ across diagonally with an astounding clear resolution of 7,680 x 4,320, which is pretty much the same as 16 times the resolution of HDTV. Yeah, now you get how crazy impressive this high def display really is.
Previously before Sharp rolled out this puppy, those who wanted to enjoy Ultra High Definition broadcast at full resolution had only one way of doing so – using a projector. Thanks to Sharp’s UV2A LCD technology, it will deliver an unprecedented level of precision when controlling the alignment of liquid crystal molecules in an LCD structure, letting Sharp create a flawless 33-megapixel display.
NHK is also working on trial broadcasts of this next gen format, which will sadly not be a reality until 2020, yes, 9 years away, but at least it’s a start, right?!
