Well, how about the World’s Smallest Camera if you’re considering downsizing?  Check it out, this baby is actually no bigger than your fingertip, and we’re not even talking Andre the Giant’s fingertip here folks.

Measuring at just more than an inch in all dimensions, the World’s Smallest Camera weighs in at less than half an ounce and was built for individuals with Lilliputian dexterity.

Don’t expect high quality images from this model though, since it sports a mere 2-megapixel image sensor which is capable of shooting crisp JPEG photographs at 1600 x 1200 resolution, while video is recorded in the AVI format at 30 frames-per-second with 640 x 480 resolution. All images and video are stashed away onto a 2GB microSD memory card, and you can always hook it up to a computer via USB for data transfer later on. The price for the World’s Smallest Camera? $99.95 a pop. Reasonable enough for you? I’m afraid it is way too small for me to keep as I tend to lose things all the time, and with no option for manual controls, this is but a novelty purchase.

Now that’s what we like to hear.  Way too often the release date is pushed back so when it’s actually a month early, it’s reason enough to celebrate.

Engadget has the news that the Canon S100 will be coming out a month earlier than expected.  The digital camera was to see a November release but the word on the street from Amazon is that this baby will be in your greedy little camera hands come October, with shipping dates as early as the 3rd.  Hello!

In an industry where delays are much more prevalent than quiet early releases, this is certainly welcome news for the highly anticipated pocket cam, which packs a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor and f/2.0 (variable) zoom lens. Shipping estimates are always subject to change, so don’t count on any miracles until that FedEx tracking number hits your inbox.

Well, wonder no more as to the height of the tree ahead of you with the new Nikon Forestry Pro.

Using a handy dandy three-point measurement system this Nikon gadget can tell you the height and angle at the base of an object.  The Forestry Pro reportedly is so accurate that it can tell you the height of a tree to the actual decimal point.  Yayuh yayuh!

Of course this awesome gadget can also be used to measure distances such as horizontal distances, angle and vertical separation as well as actual distances.  An internal and external LCD panel will check the measurements regardless of weather with waterproof capability up to 1m for 10 mins and a range of 10-500 m/11-550 yd./33-999 ft.

Sadly, and as usual, no word on price or release date but we’re loving the way this Nikon Forestry Pro can work it, work it.

Thanks to Mr. Gull, we can certainly know how lightweight the rugged GoPro camera truly is.  What, is this boird getting paid or sumin?

Recently a GoPro owner left his camera unattended for a moment when a certain seagull, we won’t name any names, HENRY!, took the opportunity to snatch up the camera in his beak and fly off with camera still rolling.

This is quite an amazing video, with a gull’s-eye-view of the romantic and oft pooped rooftops of France.  The story ends well enough with the cam owner tracking down the GoPro and with a bit of climbing, getting the bugger back in hand.

As for the gull, I believe the score is 0 GoPro owner, 10 gull.

Ahh, you just have to love a good photo leak this time of year cause it means not waiting as long to find out what’s what on the latest gadgets and this principle certainly applies to the new Olympus PEN Mini.  Isn’t she hot?!

Part of their PEN series which focuses on bridging the gap between compact point-n-shoot and DSLR cameras, the Olympus PEN Mini has about everything you’ve been looking for in one camera.

Dubbed the E-PM1, this new cam is reportedly about the same size as the XZ-1, though larger in width due to a new touchscreen display, imaging engine and sensor with much improved circuitry that will deliver better battery life, which was much needed.

The word on the street is that on June 30, all will be revealed on the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1, and we’re especially looking forward to pricing details.

It’s finally time to pre-order the all too highly anticipated Sony NEX-C3 APS-C Digital Camera.  With a sexy 16-megapixel APS-C HD image sensor on top of a shooting capability of 720p video at 30 frames per second, you’re going to be knocking everyone’s socks off with this guy.

While Sony does not plan to roll out the NEX-C3 at least until next month or August, you can always place a pre-order of the NEX-C3 with a 16mm lens at Amazon for $600. Of course, that is only for the body, but for those who want to pick up the NEX-C3 with the 18mm to 55mm lens can do so by forking out another $50.

Unfortunately, all we have from Amazon at current is a pre-order and no release date, but we’re expecting that by the end of the end of the month we’ll know a lot more.

If you’re outdoorsy and maybe a little clumsy like I am, say hello to your new BFF, Ricoh’s Waterproof & Shockproof Digital PX Camera.  That’s right.  This point-and-shoot can give as well as it takes and then some.

This small warrior packs a 16-megapixel CCD sensor along with a 5x optical wide zoom lens and is capable of booting up in just 1.4 seconds. The device also supports subject-tracking and face-priority auto-focus features, in addition to a host of shooting modes, including toy camera, soft-focus and high-contrast black and white, among others.

And most enticing about this here lil wonder is the fact that, according to Ricoh anyway, the PX is waterproof to ten feet, and stands alone when it comes to dust, sand and dirt, and that’s not even mentioning the 2.7-inch, scratch-resistant LCD.  Cost, $317 and well freaking worth it.

Of course the Sony NEX-C3 was leaked in a photo about a month ago, along with the user manual, but today the smallest interchangeable lens camera is ready to officially make its debut.

Weighing in at a mere 225g, the NEX-C3 is just about 6% lighter than its predecessor, the NEX-3 and features a stunning new body design, sporting a solid metal top casing with an easy-to-use streamlined grip shape that will ensure no droppage.

Designed to be beginner-friendly, it features a simplified interface that switches terms like “aperture”, “exposure value” and “white balance” with “background defocus”, “brightness” and “color”. But for the more experienced users, expert mode can be enabled, and highly customizable soft-keys let users bind their most frequently accessed functions.

It has a battery life of 400 still shots per charge, and a whole bunch of picture effects for creating fancy photographs. The NEX-C3 will be available this August, in silver, black, and pink with an 18-55mm kit zoom lens (model SEL1855) and will set you back about $650, though you can opt for the black version that comes with a 16mm kit zoom lens (SEL16F28) for about $600.

The new Looxcie wearable video camera is downright awesome, I mean a little strange, but completely awesome.

Looxcie is a forever-on video camera that stores up to five hours of video and can email you short clips of feed so all your adoring fans can see you chug beer at the Denver fest this weekend.  Once Looxcie reaches her storage capacity, she will then begin purging video starting with the oldest first and continues to record.

Cost, $199.

While Nikon tried to run Canon’s G11 out with the new Coolpix P700, Canon had something new up their sleeve in the waiting, the PowerShot G12 with 720p/30 HD video capability.  WhooWee.

Fairly similar handling with its predecessor, the updated G12 includes backside-illuminated HS System, 10 megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 processor and a 5x lens with teleconverter though the 2.8-inch 461k-dot articulated LCD remains the same.

Cost, $500 when she comes out in early October.  No better way to start a fall than with this sweet thing, eh?
