OK, so the title Lean Mean Green Machine Adult Big Wheel sets off a few alarms, but really and truly we’re just talking about the insanely insane 50HP tricycle from none other than Hammacher Schlemmer.

If you have more money than sense and a spare $75,000 then boy do we have a perfect fit for you today.  Say hello to your new ride, the aforementioned Lean Mean Green Machine.

This nine-foot long fixed 45-inch front wheel gas-powered tricycle features foot pedal-controlled gear changes, air-cooled, 80cc Harley-Davidson Evo engine that will propel you up to 50 MPH with its 8.5 gallon tank which will get you roughly 400 miles though we’re not exactly sure if the Lean Mean Green Machine is close to street legal.

Basically, we’re serious when we drag out the phrase more money than sense.

Wonder how many of these babies actually went into production and if those guys are in any way representative of the clientele, you may need to sport a couple of “yeah, buddies” whilst riding.

Toyota’s new Prius will be unveiled this week at the Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed the Prius +, the new hybrid has everyone all in a tither.

As one of Toyota’s most popular hybrid cars, the newest generation Prius will feature seating for up to seven people, compared with the previous five-seat passenger interior.

It packs the 3rd generation Prius hybrid system, so you know that it’s been designed to save your money spent on fuel. No details on pricing and availability, but expect to find out more in the near future.

Now you have no more excuses not to get an electric car with the new Swiss company Nation-E bailing you out of trouble if you run outta juice.

Manufacturing the very first mobile charging station, Nation-E is on the road with their new Angel Car Mobile Service Unit to get your EV charged in just 15 minutes for 19 minutes of travel which should be enough time to get your car to a charging station.

The company is in the works to get an international road show going in Europe and the US, so be on the lookout for dates near you.

We just got a tip about a new Bay Area business, City CarShare where you don’t have to own a car to get around.

City CarShare members pay around $45 per month for the car that’s right for them which includes gas, maintenance and some of the best insurance coverage we’ve ever seen on loaners.

All you have to do is pick your car, reserve it and drive it away.  Only problem we can see is that it’s currently still only in the Bay Area, franchising please!

Designed by Gordon Murray and three years in the making, this 74 MPG City Car is just about jaw dropping, well, if you had room for that in there.

The British engineer finally unveiled his T.25 City Car, the Lilliputian runabout he’s spent three years developing. Although the 74-mpg T.25 and its T.27 electric sibling recall the microcars of post-war Europe, it’s quite advanced. Beyond using a tubular steel frame, composite materials and a canopy that opens like a Lamborghini’s doors, the T.25 will use a manufacturing process said to tremendously reduce capital, space and materials.

Many leading automakers are embracing compacts and subcompacts, which could comprise one-third of the U.S. market by 2013. But to say the T.25 is tiny is to say John Isner and Nicolas Mahut can play tennis. At just a hair over 4 feet wide and just shy of 8 feet long, it’s smaller than a Smart ForTwo or Toyota iQ yet can seat three.

A car that small opens up all kinds of possibilities in a congested urban setting. Parked nose to the curb, three will fit in a single space. With a turning radius of just under 20 feet, the car will almost literally turn on a dime. And the T.25 is so narrow you could drive two abreast.

An idea Gordon actually suggests.

Gordon Murray Designs says driving two abreast in a single lane during peak travel times could increase lane usage as much as three-fold, effectively easing congestion by allowing more people to use the road. That’s assuming traffic engineers and traffic laws would allow such a thing and motorists would be willing to cram themselves together to so tightly. Murray isn’t so naive as to think we’ll all be driving side-by-side in cars that could fit in the bed of a pickup truck. But he says a car like the T.25 “creates the opportunity to explore the possibility.”

Of course, the 623.76 mile run took around 22 hours, but this is a real start in the fierce electric car competitive field.  Just think, you could probably watch an entire 24 season and still have time to spare.  Shesh, 22 hours.

Come April 19th, the fast and furious car will be up for auction as part of Bonhams Collectors’ Motor Car event.  Bids for the Ferrari are expected to be around $45,000 and up.  While this car isn’t actually an original Ferrari but replica created by John Hughes and Paramount Pictures, this baby still runs but we guess you might not want to risk it.

Take a look at this 1988 Volkswagen Scirocco that runs on 56 espressos for a single mile of travel.  Wow, we can’t help but think what a waste of perfectly good coffee.  This creatively-engineered vehicle can basically run on any brand of espresso as long as it’s very dry and comes in pellet form that will enable air to move though the pile as the coffee burns through the engine.

With no robotic equipment in sight, Takeoka Jidosha Kogei makes their small green cars with about a dozen mechanics crafting each car by hand, right up to adding the headlights.

The wee little cars run around $9,600 and runs on a lithium-ion battery, which can be charged a conventional wall socket when not in use.

We can’t help but love that a small family-run business is taking green cars to a whole new level.

This new capability should be available come some Ford 2011 models and will allow users to tag anything they like with their HD radios.
