If you’re willing to bet on the new Windows Phone mobile OS, then Windows is willing to bet on you by offering you a free Windows Phone handset.  Now, there is a bit of a catch, of course.

Windows users, in order to qualify for a new free handset, will have to spend $499 at the very least.  Waaa Waahhh.  And the phones you’re choosing from are the: HTC Surround, LG Quantum, HTC HD7 and the Dell Venue Pro, all of which are first generation Windows Phone handsets.

The upside to this deal, which is obviously not the phones, is that they’re being given away off-contract so no longer will you be required to sign on to a carrier for one to two years.   So, all in all, not a bad way to go, though we’d suggest just buying an iPhone off-contract and doing a pre-paid plan via Verizon.  But, you know, that’s just us.

Nokia has just announced that they are shipping the brand spanking new N9 smartphone to stores as well as customers, so be happy though with a tinge of sadness as this is more than likely the first and last of the MeeGo handsets by Nokia.

There’s no current word on the gadget street if anyone else is feeling up to picking up the MeeGo OS so purchase with caution, as we’re not 100% sure who would be handling the support of the OS when Nokia washes their hands of this system.

Still, the Nokia N9 seems to boast some pretty solid looking hardware, featuring a button-free user interface as well as what some deem to be an intuitive way to browse the Internet. With three home views – Applications, Events and Live Applications – to choose from, you will be able to go through the smartphone easily, accessing your favorite programs and content in a jiff

You can choose from black, cyan or magenta colors for your N9 of choice, regardless of storage capacity. Any takers? Incidentally, there was a post on Nokia’s blog earlier this morning concerning the N9′s shipping, but it was taken down shortly after that. No idea on why that happened.

October is right around the corner which means more rotten wisdom teeth, along with the release of Ice Cream Sandwich.  And with the highly anticipated release of Ice Cream Sandwich comes the release of the ever leaked Samsung Nexus Prime.  Da da daaaahhhh.

Twitter users Panda King and pal Tom Flemming have recently revealed a cryptic poem to their followers and folks over at Phandroid have made an attempt to decipher their ramblings, this is what they’ve got going so far from the poem below:

The Nexus Prime is said to be arriving in GSM and CDMA varieties (possibly on all carriers), and will be available as a touchscreen-only version and a keyboard-toting version as well. The device might be named the Galaxy Nexus, while the Verizon version could be called the Droid Prime or Droid Charge 2, and it is rumored to launch in early November. There’s no way to tell if what is written in the poem is the truth, but given @black_man_x’s history there’s likely to be some truth in what he says. Either, stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted on any updates.

Man, the HTC Holiday just can’t get enough exposure, can it?  First this baby was spotted in a series of leaked photographs a few weeks back and now the handset is back on the leaky news with better, less blurry images showing off its 4.5″ qHD display.

The HTC Holiday is said to be AT&T’s first 4G LTE phone, packing a 4.5″ qHD display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera, and HTC Sense 3.0 over Android 2.3.4. The leaked photographs also show off the phone clocking 29Mbps over AT&T’s 4G LTE network – which is pretty impressive (but seeing how there’s nobody on the network yet, it’s bound to be fast, not to mention it will depend on the area that the phone is in).

Say hello to your new Facebook BFF, the AT&T HTC ChaCha, formerly known as the HTC Status.

First in a series of Facebook mobiles, the HTC ChaCha has been spotted in the wild, though it’s not an official image, but a leak of course.  Lots of leaky things out there this summer, eh?  Someone might just wanna check on that faucet….

As you can bear witness, the now infamous F seen on the bottom right corner of the ChaCha will start your salivating glands working overtime if you’re a big social network lover.

Now don’t you go expecting a lot from the ChaCha, keep in mind that this baby is still a mid-range set, though no word on cost as of yet, and there won’t be a lengthy list of bells and whistles.  This handset should be out by the end of July, but no word on the release date front either.

Jeez, sometimes these leaky faucets only give you a wee bit of info…
