With dedicated GPS systems on the way out, Garmin has been able to stay on top of their sales goals by funneling their GPS wisdom into fitness gadgets, such as these just announced FR70 Fitness Watches.

From the bulky Garmin Forerunner 305 to the touchscreen-enabled waterproof next gen, Garmin is trying their best to stay on top of a sinking market and with the FR70 Fitness Watches it’s doing just that.

Coming to you both in a male and female version, though we’re really sorta hating the scrolly female edition, the Garmin FR70 will keep track of your workout time, heart rate, calories, laps and even your fitness goals.

ANT+ technology will run the FR70 so that is able to “talk” to compatible devices such as treadmills, bikes, elliptical machines, and who knows – a Segway? If you feel that you would not give up running for anything else in the world, then the FR70 will come with a wireless foot pod that gathers relevant data like speed, distance and cadence during your workout for future review.

While the FR70 is of course a whole heck of a lot sleeker than the Forerunner 305, the Forerunner is just hard to beat, especially with a $150+ price tag.
