According to Wal-Mart’s website if you take advantage of the pre-order, Grand Theft Auto V will ship to you June 1, 2012.  Wow, that’s pretty fracking specific, huh?  Wonder who make that mistake over at Wallyworld?

So, either Walmart actually knows the release date or they just selected a random date to insert and we have someone to slap in the IT department versus the Leaky Faucet dept.

We suppose only time will tell, unless we’re lucky enough to get an official comment from Rockstar which is doubtful this far from the rumored release date.

While speaking at a college campus EA Games president Frank Gibeau may have accidentally put his gaming foot in his mouth and inadvertently confirmed Battlefield 4.  Oops.

With the huge success of the Battlefield series the company will of course want to keep the franchise going as long as possible, especially with the alongside success of their Call of Duty competition.

Coming to the PR rescue, EA Games was very quick to clarify that the statement made by president Gibeau was only in broad terms about the Battlefield brand, and not of the existence of the Battlefield 4 game itself.  It’s interesting to note here that EA Games did not outrightly deny the possibility of Battlefield 4, so there is hope as of yet.

The actual words used at the University of California?  “There is going to be a Battlefield 4.”

‘Frank was speaking broadly about the Battlefield brand – a brand that EA is deeply passionate about and a fan community that EA is committed to,’ an EA spokesperson clarified after the remarks were made.

One can’t help but wonder if this whole thing has been a publicity stunt….

While Battlefield 3’s PC graphics are incredible, you folks who are Xbox-ing the game without an installed HD Texture Pack are having a rough go of it.

If you do not have the texture pack installed on your Xbox either due to no room or maybe you just don’t have a hard drive, the graphics experience is nothing to write home about, unless you’re writing to say how back it sucks, then you’re good.

This video from WikiGamesGuide shows the horror of Xbox Battlefield 3 without said HD texture pack install and we really have no idea why it clearly bites as much as it does.  I mean, comparatively, this is R2D2 when it should be a U-87 Cyber Combat Unit.

So of course this goes without saying, either cry some more about the inequality of life or get off your duff and download the pack and/or do yourself a favor and finally get that fracking hard drive up and running.

Okay, okay.  While we know that there are countless videos of the upcoming third installment of the Battlefield game series, there’s really not a whole ton of official actual game action out there.  Well, until now that is.

These newly leaked videos appear to have been recorded by fans who have gotten their greedy little hands on a developer’s copy of the game.  So, while, of course, these vids won’t show all that’s been finalized regarding game play, they can give us a pretty decent idea of what to expect.  And we like what we see!

The sequel to the biggest FPS game of all time has just had a momentous press release.  It’s just been revealed that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game will feature full Steam integration.  Oh.  Yeah.  Full.  Steam.  Ahead.

Modern Warfare 3 will be taking advantage of the Steamworks suite of service on both the digital and physical copies which will provide users auto-updating, achievements and even more.  Also, the third game installment will come with support dedicated servers on day 1.  Could we be more excited?  Nope.

If you were one of the lucky ones with a list direct to Santa, it looks like it’s gonna have to be Holiday Season 2012 that you’ll see the Star Wars R2-D2 edition Xbox 360 bundle under the tree as the gaming console has sadly been delayed.

The highly-anticipated Star Wars inspired gaming console delay has been confirmed by none other than a Microsoft spokesperson and the word on the street is that the delay was caused by the Star Wars Kinect game not being as polished as Microsoft and LucasArts were hoping for.  Siggghhhhh.

Well, of course we don’t want to have a craptastic Star Wars Xbox 360 but then again we were really looking forward to unwrapping that baby this year.  Also, sadly, there is still no official word on when we will actually see the release of this console but at least we know the steep price, $450.  Shouldn’t there be a discount after all of this?!

In the next few weeks Microsoft will start phasing out the 250GB Xbox 360’s outer glossy shell in favor of the ubercool matte finish that can be found on the 4GB models.  So, start saying goodbye to glossy fingerprints and hello to your new friend matte.

Major Nelson recently took to his blog announcing the news amid apparent speculation that the pricier variant would actually be offered in both flavors. If you’re a fan of shiny things — and a lover of fingerprints — Major says you’ll still have time to pick one up as stock is shuffled, and also noted there’ll probably be glossy limited editions in the future.

RIP glossy Xbox 360 shell, our fingerprints shall never be the same!
