The SD organization has developed a new dual-row pin memory card design that is capable of achieving bus interface speeds of up to 300 megabytes-per-second. that is certainly a juicy improvement as products that support the current UHS-I technology support documents transfer speeds of up to 104MB/s. The new technology will work with both SDXC and SDHC devices and
memory cards and is fully backwards compatible. The design will be part of the upcoming SD 4.0 specification, expected to be released early next year.

SanDisk today announced something they’ve been working on for quite a while the Write Once, Read Many (also known as WORM) SD Card.

This card is aimed at industries where unalterable content is important. Like for electronic voting or a police investigation. San Disk claims there is no way to alter or delete the files on the card, but we’ll see how long it takes the hacking community to prove that wrong.

The unit has a 100 year archive life. Only 128mb versions are available now, but there will be models with larger capacity in the future according to Engadget. Currently, San Disk is not revealing the price to the public, so you’ll have to contact them to find out how much these little puppies are going to set you back.
