Starting this quarter, users can subscribe to the basic MOG offerings from $4.99 and listen to all their favorite genres.

MOG, launched its subscription-based online music service back in December 2009, for $4.99 a month customers can access 7.5 million songs. Today, MOG has announced its partnership with Roku, the affordable entertainment streaming set-top box that comes in 3 flavors: Roku SD, Roku HD and Roku HDXR (includes extended Wireless-N). Roku recently launched its cool new Netflix interface.

Starting from this summer, Roku owners can subscribe to the basic MOG offering for $4.99 and for $9.99, they will be able to access MOG using the Roku player, from their PC and by downloading the soon to be released mobile apps (iPhone and Android).

In order to connect with the younger generations who prefer to text than talk, Sprint is revamping Virgin Mobile for more inexpensive prepaid plans with texting and Facebook updating options.  This is the first open discussion on what Sprint Nextel’s plans are with Virgin after the purchase of the mobile company last year.

Head of Sprint’s prepaid department, Dan Shulman, says it best, “The way traditional telecom plans are oriented, it’s all around big buckets of minutes, and on top of that, if you want to get text and data, they’re typically bolt-on or add-on packages.”

“These young, data-oriented, constantly connected customers, in order to get that functionality, are paying for all these minutes that they never use.”

Now 150 years later there is even a celebration of Lovelace’s legacy with an annual celebration every March 24th for women working in both technology and science fields.

The story goes that Lovelace, whose father was Lord Byron, translated an Italian mathematician’s memoir about Charles Babbage’s (an English mathematician/inventor) Analytical Engine, which was an early computer that never quite got built. Not only did she translate the story of the machine, but she also included her own notes—which contained a form of computer program, which would supposedly have been processed fine by the Analytical Engine, had it ever been built.

The casting of Zooey Deschanel isn’t completely confirmed, with Production Weekly tweeting she’s “in talks to play Ada Lovelace in “Enchantress Of Numbers,” Bruce Beresford plans to direct the period drama this fall,” however I’d love to see her cast as Lovelace. She’s the actress every woman fancies, and I can’t think of a more interesting role she could play.

Wow.  Isn’t this like getting asked to the prom only to find out that they asked someone before you and the whole thing makes everyone look tacky?  Apparently Sony Ericcson refused the deal, fearing brand dilution or something else wonky.  Wonder if they’re shooting themselves in the foot now?

CBS correspondent Kelly Wallace reported that starting Wednesday, YouTube would enable parental controls that would prevent kids from watching videos that have been flagged as not suitable for young children.

Now Blockbuster is adding movies on SD card at six Blockbuster and Hollywood Video stores to see how that works.  These kiosks will soon be setup so that all you will have to do is step up and pay $1.99.

We’re kinda doubting this is going to get Blockbuster off the ground floor, but it’s still creative thinking.

For the rest of 2009, Google will be offering travelers free WiFi at 47 different US airports.  Wow, thanks Google.

“This is one of our holiday gifts to our users, and when you connect, we also hope you’ll take the opportunity to try some of the latest Google products,” the company said in a statement.

Back when Palm decided that it would be best to sync the Pre with iTunes, we all held our breath, and it looks like that was for good reason.  Apple recently uploaded an update that broke this feature which then lead Palm to complain to the USB-IF,  which then lead to the WebOS software 1.2.1 and now you’re all set.

Talking about technology, Wood reveals, “All we have to do is look at how ingrained we are into technology that continues to evolve at a faster rate than we can imagine. I remember a time when we didn’t have cell phones and now they have computing power greater than probably the first laptop I owned.”

“It’s madness. If it gets out of control and if it’s used for the wrong reasons or if it takes us away from our own humanity, then maybe that will be our downfall,” he added.
