Lacie has upgraded its USB + FireWire hub and now offers the ability for users to connect more than 6 devices to one computer, at the same time.

This hub is special due to the design made by Ora-Ïto, instead of the usual block-shaped-hub, he decided to “think different”, and the result is nice to look at. The round base is just one of the good details, but what I like the most is that all the cables are flexible so you can point them wherever you want to.

The total number of cables in this upgraded hub can be considered excessive, or not, depending on the number of gadgets you have that can connect to a USB of Firewire port. Basically you got all these cables: 5 for USB, plus 3 for FireWire 400, one more for a USB fan, and another for a USB light. Is it enough?

The Lacie USB & FireWire Hub costs $80.

The biggest difference when comparing to other Wacom displays, is the small screen size but big resolution, more specifically a LCD screen that measures 12-inches and provides a 1280×800 resolution.

There are a couple of programmable buttons located on each side of the Cintiq that will make the life of designers a lot easier, all thanks to the shortcut functions. As for the pen, it can generate 1,024 pressure gradients and is pretty accurate – 5,080 lines per inch.

The Wacom Cintiq 12WX is priced at £830 ($1,700) and will be available in November.

The display can connect to any Mac or Windows computer through either DVI or VGA for older systems.

The difference in price between the two models is caused by the dual-layer recording that can be seen on the BD-AVI10 recorder. Other than that, the BD-AVI1 and BD-AV10 have a FireWire port as a connectivity mode, a HDMI port, a TV tuner, and last but not least – plain old composite ports to accommodate your older gear.

They will be available in at least 4 different colors: white, black, gray and red.

The Elecom MR-C12 is much more than a simple storage case, it does look good design-wise, and all the color combinations are good. But what makes it unique is having a double function – instead of only working as a storage case, it is also a memory card reader.

It works via USB2.0 and it supports/can hold plenty of different memory cards at once, such as:

SDHC MC

SD MC

MMC / MMC4.0

Memory Stick/ MagicGate Memory Stick

Memory Stick Pro / Memory Stick Duo

xD card

The only problem I see on the Elecom MR-C12 is that the USB cable length is only 5cm, which means that if you use a desktop computer instead of a notebook, the scenario can get kind of problematic. Anyhow, this unique card reader + storage case costs €20 ($28) and is available for pre-order.

BullEx Digital Safety has recently presented their latest training system at the NSC Expo in Chicago. What makes the BullsEye system unique among others, is the fire extinguisher that provides a digital image of the area that can be affected, in other words:

It uses laser technology to simulate the discharge of a dry chemical extinguisher for a completely clean, safe and effective training experience.

On top of the lasers feature, the BullsEye’s can also play sound thanks to the speakers that simulate the sound of a real extinguisher. Now you know that offering experience to workers with fire extinguishers is possible, and as BullEx says, it is great for training and when the time comes it will be much easier to solve the situation.
