Songbird is a cool combination of: Desktop Media Player + Digital Jukebox + Web Browser.

It’s an open source project that uses Mozilla as the base and it has plenty of good features when comparing to other media players, like:

being able to play songs when visiting a website – if there is an audio file on a site, songbird will play it just like a normal song

save the song from a website to a personal playlist by using the simple “drag-and-drop” system

built-in search box to find music – there are plenty of search engines available

cross-platform – run it on windows, mac or linux

easily create new skins for the player, or feathers as they like to call it

Songbird v0.2 was released a few days ago but sadly it seems that the setup file is not available at the moment.

Anyway, if you are tired of iTunes, Windows Media Player, or Winamp – check out the video presentation of Songbird at www.songbirdnest.com.
