This card is aimed at industries where unalterable content is important. Like for electronic voting or a police investigation. San Disk claims there is no way to alter or delete the files on the card, but we’ll see how long it takes the hacking community to prove that wrong.

The unit has a 100 year archive life. Only 128mb versions are available now, but there will be models with larger capacity in the future according to Engadget. Currently, San Disk is not revealing the price to the public, so you’ll have to contact them to find out how much these little puppies are going to set you back.

It connects to your computer thanks to the USB port, and can unlock different types of cards, such as SD, Mini SD, Micro SD and MMC. The working method is as simple as it can get: just plug the card in, and wait for the red LED to start blinking.

The USB Memory Unlock costs $16.

This SD/MMC cannot help you to get back the data (otherwise, your data will be quite danger), but it can help you to unlock your SD / MMC card so that you don’t need to buy another one.

Once it detects gas thanks to the MEMS sensor, it starts an alarm in 2 modes, audio and visual: with an audible alert and LED lights, accordingly.

The EZ Gas Check works with 2AA batteries that provide 40 hours of “life”.

It is equipped with an automatic calibration function so its simple to set up.

If you didn’t like the DVR pen that I mentioned yesterday, maybe the Cam-007 is what you are looking for.

The James Bond spy camera is smaller than the pen, which is a good thing for undercover agents that go on spy missions, but on the other hand, the recording features are not that good when comparing to the pen.

Basic info:

microSD memory card

recharges via USB

records video at 15 frames per second, with a limit of 2 hours

1GB card equals to 19 hours of video content

As you can see on the image, the recording device is so small that it can be placed inside a pack of cigs, or even in a stick of gum.

The Cam-007 is priced at $350.

Eikon Digital Privacy Manager is a USB fingerprint reader that recently got the Mac-support, back in May when it was launched for the first time, the device only worked with PCs (aka mostly Windows) but this version is now compatible with MacOS 10.4 Tiger.

Besides the normal password protection mode to some applications and folders, the second security layer is the fingerprint reader, which according to an episode of MythBusters that I recently viewed can be easy to trick. On top of that there are 5 interesting security features on the Eikon Manager made by UPEK:

- logon at startup and when returning from sleep
- unlock keychain,
- unlock secure preferences at admin-level settings,
- unlock file vault to decrypt home folders
- and unlock the screen saver all with the swipe of a finger

If you own a Eikon Digital Privacy Manager and want to use it with your Mac, head over to the UPEK site and download the preview version. In case you are interested in getting one, it costs $40.
