New iPhone 3.1 OS May Cause Weakened Battery Life

After several hundred iPhone users complained of a shorter battery life after upgrading to the new 3.1 OS, Apple is checking into the issue.

On Apple’s support forums, there are more than 500 complaint posts of weakened battery life after users upgraded to the newly released 3.1 operating system, leading team members to come up with a questionnaire about what could be causing this issue.

Everything from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and push e-mail are being explored. If you’re experiecing this same problem, click here to fill out your own set of questions and complaints. Ahh, Apple….

Apple iPhone OS 3.0 Available Today!

The new Apple iPhone operating system is finally out Wednesday. The OS 3.0 is being rolled out today with much appreciation and fanfare.

iPhone users can get the update for free while iPod Touch users will have to pay $9.95 for the new system which features multimedia messaging, full system search, tethering, push notifications and buying and renting movies and TV shows over the air.

Also included in the new 3.0 update are new parental controls, in-app purchasing and a landscape virtual keyboard for certain apps and the long-awaited copy/paste option.

Verizon Apple iPhone Please?!

With the news of the new Apple iPhone 3G S hitting AT&T and Apple stores June 19th, we thought we’d revisit the old Verizon situation.

The latest news we could find on the topic of Apple and Verizon iPhone talks dates to late last month. In late May there was some news that an iPhone would be developed for Verizon’s CDMA wireless network and be available next year.

While there is no more news as of yet since Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been on medical leave, the “high-level” discussions between the companies appears to be promising.

So, we’re all crossing our fingers for a Verizon iPhone release next year, though I doubt we’ll be holding our breath.

Palm Pre iTunes Ready!

Does the Apple iPhone have a run for its money now that the Palm Pre is compatible with iTunes? We think there will be at least a dip in iPhone sales this summer, unless the new iPhone is bring its big guns to the showdown.

Up until now, no other phone has been able to sync with iTunes other than the iPhone, so it will be interesting to say the least how this whole thing goes down.

The Palm Pre makes its debut this weekend, so you better be ready!

Apple iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 Available Now!

So it looks like Apple’s new iPhone operating system 3.0 Beta 5 is now available and up for grabs, just one week over the last OS revision.

From the beta update you can be sure that, sadly, the MMS support cannot be turned on in Settings and that, also sadly, the tethering to be enabled with the previous iTunes has been patched.

Before you even attempt the newest OS, be sure you have iTunes 8.2, as it’s now required.

iPhone App of the Day: uSirius StarPlayr Submitted for Review

The long-awaited and rumored Sirius XM app for the Apple iPhone seems to be more than a wisp of a rumor.

According to IGN, we’re just weeks away from the new uSirius StarPlayr application. The new app was reportedly submitted to Apple over the weekend for approval and it should just be a matter of time until we can gather around for more of that Howard Stern we all love.

No word as of yet on pricing.
