Sandisk Announces Extreme Pro Compact Flash Cards for Professionals

Sandisk recently announced their latest line of compact flash cards that are more aimed at the professional photographer that the point and shoot digital camera users.

The new Extreme Pro Compact Flash Cards feature the Scandisk “Power Core Controller” as well as a silicone coating for humidity and moisture protection. The cards come in 16, 32 and 64GB capacities and prices start at $300 on up to $800.

You might spoil your kids to the point of no return, but we hope you don’t go as far as a Rebel XSi for the junior in your family, especially since you can get their sticky little hands on this VTech Kidizoom Plus Digital Camera for a mere $60.

With 2x digital zoom, movie recording capability with sound, preview display, optical viewfinder, 256MB of internal memory and an SD memory card slot, you need not look further.

This new VTech camera will be available sometime in August, so wait on that Canon Rebel for now.

Canon Rebel XSi 450D DSLR Camera Unboxing

Well, we finally took the plunge and got ourselves a nice new digital SLR camera. We know we’re a little bit behind the times, but better late than never, right? We chose the base level Canon Rebel XSi 450D for our purposes and have not been let down yet.

First impressions of the 12.2-megapixel DSLR are quite positive, especially with the Live View Shooting option which allows you to view your subjects via LCD monitor rather than relying on the viewfinder, but this function is only available using one of the five ‘Creative Zone’ modes so be prepared for that. I mean, who even remembers how to use a viewfinder anyway?

With an extra large 3.0-inch LCD display you will always be able to see what you’re taking a shot of and how well it turned out. The wide angle is perfect for capturing low-light situations if you’re like us and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a flash.

The DIGIC III image processor is fast and accurate, and leaves nothing to be desired. With the XSi you will also enjoy improved autofocus as well as framing rate, which is a bonus over previous base level digital SLR Canons.

All in all, it’s a great piece of machinery that comes complete with a separate Spanish language instruction manual.

Don’t Go Titanium with Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera

We were checking out the Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera, which is at a great price right now on Amazon for $750, when we realized you could upgrade the camera to a titanium package.

What will a titanium version cost you? Try $450 more on top, so $12o0 for just the shiner finish. Nothing else, just shine for $450. Will it buy you a few more megapixels? No. Will it get you into a Rolling Stones concert for free? No. Will it do your laundry. No. But we guess you could take a picture of your dirty undies.

The titanium Pentax K20D will feature the same 14.6-megapixel resolution, 2.7-inch LCD display, comprehensive Dust Removal system, live view function and image capture to images to SD/SDHC cards.

But, seriously, say no to the shine.
