CBS correspondent Kelly Wallace reported that starting Wednesday, YouTube would enable parental controls that would prevent kids from watching videos that have been flagged as not suitable for young children.

It’s the end of an era, kids.

Whoa, what’s this? The so-called Zune software maintenance release has a trio of Phone device drivers tucked away inside the Zune.inf file according to Long Zheng over at istartedsomething. And similar to the three devices listed representing the three types of Zunes, we have three Phone.DeviceDesc placeholders for three unannounced (Pink and WinMo 6.x/7?) phones presumably running premium Zune media services.

Hewlett-Packard’s VP of Personal Computing Systems revealed that the projectors would be placed on top of laptop screens where a webcam would traditionally be located.

While there won’t be a huge host of films up for grabs at first, don’t take it to heart, more are coming soon.  The first five movies available for rent will be the part of the 2009 and 2010 Sundance Film Festival nominees, with all but one of those going for $4.

Coming in either 2010 or early 2011, this new network would not take the place of the current free interface, but would instead aim to compliment the already existing frame.   No word as of yet on what the new network would bring to the table.

Google recently previewed their new and free, of course, WiFi on Virgin America flights.  The Internet service will be available free of charge until January 15, big sigh there.  Guess we’d better get jetting then.

Tomorrow the company will be hosting an event at their Mountain View, CA headquarters in order to show off their progress and provide a clear launch date for next year’s new OS.

AT&T filed a temporary restraining order of Verizon’s coverage map-based ads and now it’s on and on till the crack of dawn. Verizon is punching back at the AT&T suit by stating,  “AT&T did not file this lawsuit because Verizon’s ‘There’s A Map For That’ advertisements are untrue; AT&T sued because Verizon’s ads are true and the truth hurts.”

While Google will be fitting the WiFi bill for some of the nation’s airports, Yahoo! will soon be offering free Internet access to New York’s Times Square.

Free WiFi should hit the Square sometime next year while we now wait for Microsoft to join in on the game.

Now Blockbuster is adding movies on SD card at six Blockbuster and Hollywood Video stores to see how that works.  These kiosks will soon be setup so that all you will have to do is step up and pay $1.99.

We’re kinda doubting this is going to get Blockbuster off the ground floor, but it’s still creative thinking.
